440 Burpees Later: A Humbling (and Sore) Reminder of Our Amazing Community

When I promised to do 10 burpees for every Google review we received as part of our Barbells for Boobs fundraiser, I figured I’d be knocking out 200 burpees, tops. But our incredible CrossFit Trussville community had other plans. You all went above and beyond with 44 reviews, which meant… drumroll440 burpees.

The Challenge: Gratitude Meets Regret

With each review came a mix of gratitude and regret. I was so humbled by the support—each review represents a member or friend who took the time to share their experience with our gym. But as the reviews climbed, I realized I was in for the workout of my life. 😅

I tackled the 440 burpees in just under 56 minutes (surprising even myself), with our amazing members cheering me on in person and through the livestream. It was a tough hour, but the energy from the community carried me through every single rep.

Lessons Learned

  1. Never underestimate the power of your community. I was blown away by how quickly the reviews poured in. It’s a testament to the love and loyalty of our Trussville fitness family.

  2. Burpees hit differently. Oddly enough, it’s not my chest or arms that are the sorest—it’s my glutes. Who knew burpees were a secret leg day workout?

  3. Challenges bring us closer. From the live cheering during the burpees to the jokes and conversations afterward, this was more than just a fundraiser—it was a reminder of why I love what I do.

The Bigger Picture

This wasn’t just about burpees. The real victory here is what it means for our community. The Google reviews help more people discover CrossFit Trussville and everything we offer, from CrossFit and ReBoot to specialized programs like CFT Kids and Legends 50+. Plus, the funds raised during Barbells for Boobs support a cause that’s close to our hearts.

What’s Next?

The building updates are coming along great! The sides and roof are nearly finished, and I can’t wait to see this new space become a hub for fitness, community, and growth. And while I may not sign up for another 440-burpee challenge anytime soon, I’m already thinking about what we can do next to keep this momentum alive. Got ideas? Let me know!
