A Heartfelt Thank You to Coach Schmohl for His Heroic Actions 💪🏼
We all know Coach Schmohl as a dedicated leader and coach, but what many of you might not know is that he recently went above and beyond in a truly life-saving way. At the Maggie’s Rules Softball Tournament, an umpire tragically collapsed on the field, suffering a heart attack. In front of fans, families, and young athletes, the situation quickly became critical.
In an extraordinary display of quick thinking, Coach Schmohl was the first responder on the scene. While many may have hesitated, he didn’t waste a second. Shawn Bowles told us it was Coach Schmohl who immediately jumped into action, helping administer life-saving aid alongside other parents. Thanks to their efforts, the umpire, who had no pulse and wasn’t breathing, was revived before EMS arrived, ultimately saving his life.
While Coach Schmohl is probably blushing as he reads this, it’s important that we acknowledge his bravery and calm under pressure. His selflessness and ability to act without hesitation are a testament to his character, and we couldn’t be prouder to have him as part of the CFT family.
This situation could have ended very differently if it weren’t for Coach Schmohl and the other parents who leapt into action. We all too often forget how fragile life can be, and it’s moments like this that remind us to be grateful for the people around us. Coach Schmohl, your actions that day went far beyond the gym walls, and they reflect the kind of person and leader you are.
From all of us at CrossFit Trussville, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you, Coach Schmohl, for your service and your heroism. You not only teach us how to be stronger physically, but you inspire us to be better people by leading with compassion and courage.
We’re proud to call you our coach, and even prouder to call you part of our community. 👏🏼
