Never Forget: CrossFit Trussville's 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb Experience
CrossFit Trussville had the incredible honor of participating in the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, right here in Birmingham, alongside the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service Department. Together, we climbed 110 stories to remember and honor the brave firefighters and first responders who risked and sacrificed their lives on September 11, 2001.
The event began with the tolling of the bell, a powerful and humbling moment that set the tone for the climb. It was a reminder of the unimaginable challenges faced that day and the strength it took for so many to ascend those stairs. As we climbed, we had the privilege of witnessing Birmingham’s firefighters make their way up all 110 stories, fully suited in their gear. It was a truly inspiring sight, one that deeply connected all of us to the courage and dedication of firefighters everywhere.
A particularly special part of the day was seeing some of the youngest members of our community step up to the challenge. Anderson, Finley, and Maddie gave their all and kept up with us every step of the way. Their determination was a testament to the strength of our community and how important it is to pass on the values of resilience and hard work to the next generation. And yes, they definitely earned that doughnut after the climb!
The day was made even more special when we were granted access to the top of the building by the head of security. The view from the top was something to behold, offering a rare and breathtaking perspective of the city we love.
At CrossFit Trussville, it’s more than just fitness—it’s about community, honoring those who serve, and teaching the values of perseverance and strength, no matter the age or the challenge.
